New Beginnings

New beginnings and old friends.

So its been a little under 6 months since I graduated and really my life couldn't be more different. I really am starting to grow up in ways I never thought I would, let alone wanted to. I have a 40+ hours job and I live with my boyfriend and a roommate. I take care of my dog and try to have fun every single weekend as it is my only free time now. This being said, I am still trying to make art and trying to make some money at it! I am going to be starting a photo colab blog thing soon with some good friends and fellow artists. Look for it soon!

Josh Panda

Friend of mine died today... this has been really sad.

Rest in peace Josh... when i think of josh i think of pandas. I hope he likes it that way.

For all of Josh's family and really close friends I hope they find peace as well. The news stories have been very unforgiving and really quite negative, I wish they would all just shut up and leave it all alone.

I am still shocked that he is really gone.

I remember meeting him at a party downtown and he was wearing a bad ass tiger cutoff shirt and thinking this kid is awesome. Its sad that the most interesting people have to die so young. If there is a God, he is not my kind of God. He kills off all the good ones. Just saying.

Andrew Bird amazingness. This makes me ashamed that I have not picked up my violin in ages. :( I am lame.

So I know its been a few day since I graduated so no excuses with the updates right? WRONG. But I did notice that I feature none of my own artwork here on the site. This is not because I do not want to, but simply because I have not. I do have some pictures and artwork up on my flickr site if you feel so inclined. Check it out if you will. I am in the process of working on a real honest to god website with my artwork featured, but as many of you know its not such an easy task.

Jen Davis in Indianapolis

Her work is really intimate, and frankly freaks me out, but i cant stop looking at them.

So I just found out that Jen Davis is having a show at iMOCA here in Indy this Friday. I am real excited to see some of this work in person. Ive been creepin her website a bunch after "discovering" her through Amy Stein's work and I really enjoy her stuff. I think its crazy when you get really into a photographer through the internet and never really see their stuff printed. Its a whole different thing. I definitely prefer in person.

Daniel Augschöll

I recently stumbled upon this new photographer. His work really struck me, first of all because of the funk/glum I've been in these last few months and it made me want to move west, northwest to be exact.

Maybe that is also due to the fact that I watched Twilight last night and it really blew my mind how blue and cyan they tinted the film. I mean the whole film is completely blue! I did like it. So did Alex, HA!

I've been toying around with the idea of trying to become a director of Photography for film, but if that really was what I wanted I more than likely would have to go to some sort of masters program for cinematography or something and at this point I DO NOT want to go back to school. Especially right after completing my BFA. Hello. This summer I plan on helping and old high school friend with his film so maybe some practice and some fun will help me make up my mind. Updates on that soon.

He has been featured on Fecal Face lately and I was pleasantly surprised to find his portraits and urban landscapes to be really intriguing and beautiful. The way he uses light or sunlight to blow out and etherealize his subjects is really striking.

Updated Progression

Just wanted to update things and say that I am graduating in less than one months time and things are beyond insane in my neck of the woods. Not to fear I did not just forget about my online amazing art o blog o sphere. Just a bit preoccupied at the moment. Graduation May 10th, big celebration party Memorial Day, everyone is invited.
